Oregon International Airshow – August 5-7
Hillsboro Airport hosts the Oregon International Airshow this August. Featured performers include the Breitling Jet Team from France, U.S. Navy F-18 Super Hornet, and OANG F-15 Eagle. This year includes a special “Heroes of the Pacific” tribute which allows viewers to see heroic Pearl Harbor aircrafts up close.



Bite of Oregon – August 12-14
The 33rd Annual Bite of Oregon, benefitting Special Olympics Oregon, takes place at Waterfront Park with this year’s theme being “Celebrating Oregon’s Bounty”. Enjoy a wide selection of food offerings from local restaurants and food carts. Whether you choose a small plate or full-size portion, there is a selection of delicious bites ranging in price
from $2-9.


Vancouver Brewfest – August 12-14
Vancouver Brewfest is back this year in Esther Short Park with a large variety of beer and cider vendors, food, live music and special events. Part of the proceeds from ticket sales go to benefit local Vancouver charities.

Elephant Garlic Festival – August 12-14
The North Plains’ Elephant Garlic Festival is celebrating its 19th year. The weekend includes a parade with a Garlic King and Queen, 10k run, and of course plenty of garlic-filled food, music, and entertainment.

Seaport Celebration – August 13
The Port of Portland Seaport Celebration lets kids and adults alike experience Portland’s working harbor. Visit interactive booths, jet boat rides, live music, food, and a Kid’s Fun Zone.

Bridge Pedal – August 14
In its 21st year, the Providence Bridge Pedal offers six different rides, for cyclists of every level, across Portland bridges. For those who wish to walk instead of ride, Providence Stride is 5-mile walk over the Fremont and Steel bridges. Registered participants receive free admission to the Bite of Oregon.

Festa Italiana – August 25-27
Festa Italiana is a free celebration of Italian culture and cuisine right in Pioneer Square. Special events include an Italian Opera performance, dancing, wine and beer gardens, live music, movies, and plenty of authentic Italian food.

Hood to Coast Relay – August 26-27
The Providence Cancer Center-sponsored Hood to Coast Relay has a goal this year to #finishcancer. This run is known as the “Mother of All Relays” and takes participants 198 miles from Timberline Lodge to Seaside. The run, which began in 1982, has around 12,600 runners each year.

Vancouver Wine & Jazz Festival – August 26-28
The Vancouver Wine & Jazz Festival combines great wine, art, food and, of course, jazz music into one three-day event. With tickets starting at just $20/day, you won’t want to miss the #1 Cultural Tourism event in Vancouver and Southwest Washington.

Summer Free For All
Portland Parks & Recreation’s Summer Free For All provides free, family-friendly activities at parks throughout the city. All summer long, enjoy movies, concerts, swimming, activities and free lunches for kids in the beautiful parks around Portland.

Free Shakespeare
Portland’s Actors Ensemble has been performing Shakespeare and classical theatre for the past 44 years. These free productions are performed in parks, colleges, and wineries throughout the Portland area. During the month of August and beginning of September, the company will be performing Shakespeare’s Love’s Labour’s Lost.

Chef in the Market
Chef in the Market brings cooking demonstrations by Portland’s best chefs to the Portland Farmers Market. Watch chef’s turn in-season, local ingredients into beautiful and tasty dishes.

Portland Festival Symphony Concerts
Free symphony concerts have been performed for the past 36 years in parks across Portland. Take advantage of the three concerts taking place this month and enjoy classic musical pieces by Vivaldi, Haydn, and more.
