‘Tis the season for family, friends, and fun in the Northwest! We’ve compiled our top picks for holiday events in Oregon and Washington. Head to our calendar for more information including locations, times, and any updated event information.
Symbols of the Season – November 21-December 31
See Pittock Mansion dressed up for the holidays during Symbols of the Season. Rooms of the mansion are decorated and inspired by the holiday season and feature ornaments, angels, Santa Claus, and more. Special musical performances will accompany the month-long exhibit.

Holiday Express – November 25–December 18
Celebrate the holidays with a ride on the Holiday Express! The Oregon Rail Heritage Foundation presents a 45-minute trip in a festively decorated train along the Willamette River. Be on the look out for a special appearance made by Santa Claus.

Christmas Tree Elegance – November 29-December 11
Eighteen beautifully decorated Christmas trees will be on display at the historic Davenport Hotel and River Square Park in Spokane during Christmas Tree Elegance. This annual fundraiser raffles off the trees to raise money for the Spokane Symphony Association.

Providence Festival of Trees – December 1-3
The Providence Festival of Trees showcases more than 25 decorated and themed Christmas trees created by local designers and sponsored by local businesses. The 34th Annual Providence Festival of Trees Gala kicks off the celebration with an auction and raffle for the trees, home decor, and more. All proceeds from the festival and gala go toward the Providence Cancer Center.

Hood River Holidays – December 2
Kick-off the holidays in Hood River with Hood River Holidays! The inaugural event includes an old-fashioned parade in downtown Hood River, tree lighting ceremony, caroling, and of course, a visit from Santa. Hood River also provides the perfect opportunity to get some holiday shopping done at their unique downtown shops.

America’s Largest Christmas Bazaar – December 2-4
If you’re looking for a truly unique shopping experience this holiday season, look no further than the Expo Center at America’s Largest Christmas Bazaar. Find gifts and treats for everyone on your list – many of them handcrafted by the exhibitors.

Gingerbread Jamboree – December 3
The Gingerbread Jamboree is a fun and festive event where kids and families can decorate gingerbread houses from a huge candy buffet at OMSI. You can even sponsor or purchase special gingerbread houses to donate to the Providence Festival of Trees.

Christmas at Fort Vancouver – December 10
Christmas at Fort Vancouver offers a unique way to celebrate the holidays. Experience the sights and sounds of the 1840s as you are transported back in time to the holiday season at Fort Vancouver. Special activities include wreath making, holiday treats, caroling, and much more.

The Nutcracker Ballet – December 10-26
A holiday tradition comes to Portland once more with George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker at the Keller Auditorium. The Oregon Ballet Theatre presents the classic production with special performances to include the OBT Orchestra.

Holiday Half Marathon & 5k – December 11
Billed as the biggest and most festive holiday race in the Northwest, the Holiday Half Marathon & 5K winds through North Portland and across the St. John’s Bridge, and concludes with a fun holiday celebration for all participants. After the race, treat yourself to some seasonal craft brew, holiday soup, hot chocolate, and other goodies.
