Take advantage of our list of fun activities and make the most of your weekends and summer vacations this June! Get outdoors and try a bike tour around the city or catch a headlining act at the Oregon Zoo. If kicking back is more up your alley, float down the Clackamas River or check out Portland Beer Week. Visit our June Events in Oregon and SW Washington blog post for even more things to do this month.
Clackamas River Float
Is there a better way to spend a Saturday than meandering down the Clackamas River on an inner tube? Probably not. Start at McIver State Park Upper Ramp and float on down to the Lower Ramp in about two hours. Or spend a whole day floating down to Carver and Barton ramps. Make sure you slather on the sunscreen and don’t forget the water and snacks! Read more tips and locations to float in Portland here.
Oregon Zoo Summer Concerts
The popular Oregon Zoo Summer Concerts begin June 19th with the sold out Chicago show. But not to worry, you can attend a variety of concerts throughout the summer months. This year’s highlighted acts include: The B-52s, Ziggy Marley, Fitz & The Tantrums, K.D. Lang, and more. Buy tickets online and take advantage of the free zoo admission for the same day.
Edgefield Concerts On The Lawn
McMenamins Edgefield Concerts On The Lawn series begins this month. Experience Edgefield and take advantage of the 74-acre property, featuring ten restaurants and bars, before the show. The first concert, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, is on June 17th. Other acts for the 2016 season include: Diana Ross, Goo Goo Dolls, Ray LaMontagne, Bonnie Raitt, and more.
International Day of Yoga
Practice your sun salutations with hundreds of other yoga enthusiasts right in the middle of Pioneer Square! June 21st marks the first observance of the International Day of Yoga in Portland and will include fun crafts, classes, and performances. This celebration is a great way for families to connect with the Portland yoga community. Experienced yogi or not, this event will be a peaceful time had by all.
Portland Beer Week
Most are aware that Portland is the world’s greatest city for beer, but how do we celebrate this accomplishment? With PDX Beer Week, of course! This week of June is not just another beer festival, it’s a way to appreciate craft beer culture while showcasing the best of the beer world to the rest of the city. Check out the calendar of events and don’t miss the popular Portland Fruit Beer Festival starting June 10th.
Bike Rental & Tours
Check out Everybody’s Bike Rentals & Tours this summer for a new way to see the city and a way to get a little exercise, too. You can either rent one of EBR&T’s vintage bikes and go it alone, or join one of their bike tours: NE Portland Food & Farms Tour or NE Portland Beer & Parks Tour. Each three hour tour offers a fun, laid-back look at Portland culture.
