It’s finally starting to warm up in the Northwest and there are activities happening, both indoors and out, for everyone to take part in. Celebrate National Bike Month with by participating in a cycle-friendly event. Or, get your wine fix at one of the dozens of wineries in the area that are taking part in Oregon Wine Month. Oregon Wine Month Activities

Oregonians love their wine – especially during Oregon Wine Month! There is a full list of events to participate in, which all celebrate the exceptional Oregon Wine Country. Here are some highlights:



Food Loves Oregon Wine


See if your favorite restaurant is participating in Food Loves Oregon Wine. Several local restaurants have teamed up with Oregon Wine to provide special menus, wine selections, and discounts during the month of May.

Memorial Weekend Open House



There are several open house events happening during Memorial Day Weekend. Stop by Solena Estate in Yamhill for their Open House. Choose from a selection of over 90 point wine flight and food pairings or take a walking vineyard tour.

Wine Country Without the Drive



Not wanting to make a trip out to the wineries? At the Hip Chicks Do Wine: Wine Country Without the Drive event during Memorial Day Weekend, you’ll only have to go as far as SE 23rd in Portland. For the price of admission, you can enjoy newly released wines, appetizers, music, and a commemorative glass.


Umpqua Valley Barrel Tour



Tour the Umpqua Wine Country on the Umpqua Valley Barrel Tour by bus for just $52. You’ll learn about the wineries and winemaking process from local winemakers and, of course, sample the wines paired with delicious food.
 


 
Underdog Sports League



Missing the glory days of gym class? Join an Underdog Sports League team for a fun way to get some exercise and bond with fellow team sports lovers. Whether it’s softball, flag football or the cult sport of Cornhole, there is something for everyone. Underdog is a co-ed league organization that emphasizes safe, fair, and fun sports play.




Portland Farmers Market



Find your closest farmers market by visiting the Portland Farmers Market site. There are over 40 markets in the Portland Metro area and seven within city limits. Shopping at a farmers market is a great way to support local farms and other community vendors.

National Bike Month Activities



May is National Bike Month and their are several ways you can celebrate your love for cycling – no matter where you live. You can skip the heavy Portland traffic and bike to work! The popular National Bike to Work Day is on May 20th. The city of Portland has an extensive list of ways to participate in Bike Month, including a guided Family Ride to the Tram and Cycling Essentials classes provided by Go Lloyd.

Sunday Parkways

City of Portland Sunday Parkways are free events that open up city streets for pedestrian and bike traffic in order to promote healthy, active lifestyles. Sunday Parkways allow families to explore surrounding neighborhoods and get a different perspective of the city. There are different routes for almost every area of Portland. The first Sunday Parkway of 2016 is in East Portland on May 15th and spans seven miles. Check out the route map for this month.
